Trick-or-Treat Times in Central Georgia

Macon Mayor Robert Reichert is recommending that the city's children go trick-or-treating on Saturday, Oct. 30.

Because Halloween falls on a Sunday night, the mayor says Saturday trick-or-treating will "ensure that they will be able to make the most out of the evening and not be bothered with following day bus schedules and morning classes."

The city of Macon will also host a fall festival on Friday, Oct. 29 from 6-8 p.m. at Central City Park for kids 12 and under.

Warner Robins Mayor Chuck Shaheen also issued a statement encouraging children to trick-or-treat on Saturday, October 30 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. The statement says surrounding areas will also hold trick-or-treat at that time.

Centerville and Perry will both host trick-or-treating on Saturday, Oct. 30 from 6 to 8 p.m.
In Forsyth, Halloween comes a little early on Friday night, Oct. 29.

Milledgeville will celebrate Halloween on Sunday, October 31.

The cities of Gray and Dublin are not setting specific trick-or-treating times.

Homeowners: If you do not wish to participate in Trick-or-Treat, please keep your porch light off. If you wish to receive Trick-or-Treaters, please keep your porch light on.

Regardless if you are participating in Trick-or-Treat or not, please drive extra slowly on Saturday night and be mindful of pedestrians and children walking in the street!

Speed Severity Report

The Macon-Bibb Traffic Engineer has prepared a Speed Severity Report for Stinsonville Road. Here is an excerpt from his findings:

While the study show vehicles are exceeding the posted speed limit, the average speed is 26 mph. From a traffic engineering perspective, this does not constitute a speeding problem. We look at the average daily traffic to determine speed severity. If the average speed exceeds the posted speed limit by 11 mph, this would present a problem. However, this study shows the average vehicle is traveling 26 mph, while the average vehicle exceeding the posted speed limit is traveling 31 mph.

"SLOW - Children Playing" Signs

We'd like to thank Eric Spears, previous IWHOA treasurer, and other residents for coordinating the installation of two "SLOW - Children Playing" signs on Stinsonville Road.
The signs were installed in response to resident's complaints about excessive speeding in the neighborhood. The current president is reviewing other options as well to help enforce the speed limit and keep Ingleside Woods safe for drivers, pedestrians and children.
